In den Jahren 2009 - 2011 haben wir (meine Frau und ich) unser Fotoprojekt durchgeführt. Sinn war es, das, soweit noch vorhanden, alte Kreta zu zeigen. Seine Menschen, ihr Leben und Arbeit. Natürlich auch die Landschaft.

Entstanden ist dabei ein Fotobuch, welches ich jetzt hier vorstelle. Jeden Sonntag eine Seite.

Der Reisende (nicht der Tourist), der mit offenen Sinnen und einem Gefühl für Menschen diese Insel besucht, findet auf Kreta Bewohner, die geprägt sind von der einzigartigen kretischen Landschaft und noch immer verwurzelt in jahrhundertealten Traditionen. Wo der Reisende geht und steht, sieht er Zeugnisse einer Vergangenheit, die sich über tausende von Jahren erstreckt. Ob es die Minoer, Dorer, Römer, Venezianer, Türken oder auch arabische Piraten waren, die hier herrschten, alle haben der Insel und ihren Menschen ihren Stempel aufgedrückt.

Gerade diese Vielfalt ist es, die den Reisenden nicht mehr loslässt. Die sprichwörtliche Gastfreundschaft der Kreter lässt ihn überall, wo er mit Offenheit und Respekt auf sie zugeht, zuhause sein. 

Allerdings ändern sich die Gegebenheiten auch hier. Traditionen werden weniger sichtbar und in der Hauptsache sind es die älteren Jahrgänge, die noch etwas von dem „kretischen“ Gefühl vermitteln.

Dieses Buch soll bildlich dazu beitragen, das, was heute noch sichtbar ist und den Reiz dieser Insel ausmacht, festzuhalten. Möge der Betrachter etwas von dem Gefühl mitnehmen, welches sich bei uns verinnerlicht hat.

Es heisst, wer als junger Mensch diese Insel zum ersten Mal besucht, wird nie wieder von ihr losgelassen………..

Ο ταξιδιώτης ( όχι ένας τουρίστας ), ο οποίος επισκέπτεται με ανοιχτό μυαλό και μια αίσθηση των ανθρώπων , αυτό το νησί είναι η Κρήτη κατοίκους που επηρεάζονται από το μοναδικό κρητικό τοπίο και ακόμα ριζωμένη σε παραδόσεις αιώνων . Σε περίπτωση που ο ταξιδιώτης πηγαίνει και στέκεται , βλέπει ενδείξεις ενός παρελθόντος που εκτείνεται χιλιάδες χρόνια πίσω . Είτε ήταν οι Μινωίτες , Δωριείς , Ρωμαίοι , Ενετοί, Τούρκοι , ή ακόμα και Άραβες πειρατές που κυβέρνησαν εδώ , όλοι έχουν το νησί και τους ανθρώπους της, άφησε τη σφραγίδα τους .

Είναι ακριβώς αυτή η διαφορετικότητα που δεν θα αφήσει να πάει ο ταξιδιώτης . Η παροιμιώδης φιλοξενία των Κρητικών τον αφήνει όπου κι αν προσεγγίσει με διαφάνεια και το σεβασμό της , να είναι στο σπίτι .

Ωστόσο , η κατάσταση αλλάζει , πάρα πολύ . Οι παραδόσεις είναι λιγότερο ορατές και στον κύριο είναι οι παλιές χρονιές , αλλά μεταφέρουν κάτι από την «Κρητική» συναίσθημα.

Αυτό το βιβλίο είναι οπτικά συμβάλει σε αυτό που είναι ακόμα ορατά και η γοητεία αυτού του νησιού αποτελεί αναμονή. Μπορεί ο θεατής να πάρει κάτι από την αίσθηση που έχει εσωτερικευθεί μαζί μας .

Λέγεται ότι ένας νεαρός άνδρας ο οποίος επισκέφθηκε το νησί για πρώτη φορά , ποτέ δεν θα αφήσει να πάει από αυτό ...........
